Progress

Well it's probably about time that I get some pictures up of what my model B-24 looks like out of the box.  As you will see from the pictures there is a lot of work involved in transforming the many grey pieces of plastic into a properly constructed visually appealing model.

A few days ago I spent some time removing some of the larger key pieces from the sprues and sanding down excess plastic to prepare them for painting. When this was completed I decided to temporarily put some of the larger pieces together with elastic bands in order to get a sense of what the shape of the model will be like upon completion (picture above)

Above is a picture of some of the basic supplies necessary in the painting of a model plane. I was finally able to find most of the required enamel model paints at the hobby store "Spare Time Hobbies" as well as the precision brushes shown in the picture.

Well it'seems probably about time that I get some more progress photos up. Unfortunately I have been quite busy and have not been able to upload picture of my model recently. Below are some picture that show my progress in building the model plane and will also hopefully give you some sort of idea as to how much time goes into some of the details involved building the model, particularly the interior.

This picture just shows the one of the four painted engines inside the cowling
This picture just shows some of the finer detail in the cockpit.

More interior detail in cockpit and the top turret gunner'so area.
View of the bomabadier and nose gunner area, cockpit, top turret gunner area and        nose landing gear.
Interior of plane behind Bombay that houses waist gunners.  Waist gunners platform.

Well its about time but I am finally finished my B-24 model project and overall I am fairly happy with the completed model. Unfortunately shortly after my presentation the model suffered some notable damage such as the top fuselage seam splitting, the right wing landing gear breaking off, the top turret being forced into the fuselage, the bomb sight being broken off, the rear boarding ladder being broken off and the right pilot tube being broken off and apparently lost, while being stored in a class room before I could take it home. Unfortunately I  am currently at school and am unable to repair these damages at the moment so please keep this in mind while looking at the pictures. Also it is important to note that I have left some transparencies off of the model (nose glazing, navigator's bubble and canopy) to give a better idea of the interior of the plane during my presentation and that these will likely be applied to the model in the future.
